It was way to difficult to shortlist a sane number of pictures to upload because I would go crazy uploading even half of the 700 pictures. So here are the ones I liked and thought should be put up here. I shall put up the pics in three parts, that of Delhi, Nainital and Jim Corbett Park. Here's Part I. Unfortunately, I dont know how good the travelogue that will accompany these pics will be, cause there's so much to tell... one might as well resort to watching Travel & Living or Musafir Hoon Yaaron!
Caution:
My opinions about certain places/locations + cuisines may be exaggerated and boisterous. You shall know as you read further.
Part I: Delhi
Delhi saw us having a short stay plus it wasnt a city that made me get my camera out and start capturing the sights...Old Delhi is a horrendous place to stumble upon. If you do have the unfortunate luck to stumble there or are dragged by peers/ family, let me warn you of the 'dirrrty' streets. Paan stains/spit AND insect hovered faeces will mock you at every few yards of the steps that you take. So my advise to you is dont get out of the bus or whatever vehicle you are travelling in when you are in Old Delhi, more so if you are woman; because you will get stared at by the 'bhaiyyas' ( maybe i got the term 'bhaiyyas'wrong) even at 8 am in the morning when you step out in urgent need of medicines!
Eww...gives me the creeps, that place.
Also, they boast a lot about 'Dilli ka chat'. It's utter crap. You would be doing your taste buds some favour by not letting the 'aloo chat' enter you mouth. The fruit chat is passable, but these Delhi chaps take it seriously when it comes to 'chat' and stay true to its name by sprinkling truckloads of chat on the aloo...man, where's the aloo disappeared, we wondered?!?!
New Delhi is much more organised and clean and how can one forget the National School of Drama and its spacious lawns, and the nice two lil portions of 2 plays I saw there and the cute guy...oops! Thats too much information!
The Delhi Metro is a nice place; you can occasionally spot an idiot or two taking pics of empty escalators and making it starkly clear that they have either never seen an escalator in their life ever before or have been in the Metro for the first time!!
I wonder when Mumbai will get a Metro of its own. Photography inside the Metro was forbidden! But I love to break rules at times!! *chuckle chuckle*
Haha!!
A post on Nainital is coming up next! One of my best stays in the whole trip...

Thats a nice looking metro, esp in comparison to the decay of Old Delhi. I have been to New Delhi for about 8 hrs was just passing thru, not enough time to see anything.
Oh, I was wondering where you were..
Nice. So you have visited some of the places I frequently haunted when I was in India.
Delhi because I studied there, Nainital, Ranikhet and other remote places around there where I often went trekking..You are making me miss home.
I read your opinion of Delhi. I agree with what you say, but you probably didn't realize the full extent of this "Dilli culture". You need to live there to feel it. I left that city with mixed feelings of disgust, pain and anger. At the same time, I wouldn't trade those three years for anything in my life. As I like to tell people "If you can survive Delhi, you can survive anywhere. That city is a great, impartial teacher."
Corbett - Sigh..I have been there 4 times, and saw a tiger only once. It's very tough to get a sighting. I don't know the details of your trip, but it is extremely rare to see it in daylight. You need wait till dusk, and have all the time in the world. And, of course, stealth and a LOT of patience. I met an Australian couple once, who had been living in their Jeep for 2 nights just to get one picture of a tiger.
Did you also see the Ramganga river? There are regions that are off-limits due to the large number of crocs and alligators in the river. Also, the waters are extremely dangerous in monsoons and when the snow up in the peaks melts. Then you can see the fury of a mountain river. The noise is like a raging thunderstorm, and the water is frothing white. I have a picture of me on one of the huge rocks in the river (during a calmer season)...
You must have seen the low dunes and gentle semi-mountain roads of 'tarai' that dot the landscape on your way to Corbett. Ramgarh has other fascinating sites, though less popular. And the pine forests on the slopes of dodgy hills between Nainital and Ranikhet? The smell is intoxicating, isn't it? If you carefully made your way up any of those slopes (carefully, because the pine needles are slippery), within 5 minutes you would reach a secluded spot. Just you, the soft bed of pine and moss under you, filtered sunlight that can neither warm nor light enough. I have been there for hours on end, tossing the pine cones while lying on my back, shivering in the slight cold, then rolling to a spot that had some more sun.....
Hope you had a nice trip.
P.S: Haha..man, you really made me nostalgic.
Ooh la la! What have we here? Eh? That, girl, that is nice bit of a post. Eager for more... :)
And yes, I do agree with on every acpect, including the faeces part. Hmmm, ugh, etc. =)
new name?
@sanjay:
u can always take some time out and go city-seeing!
yeah the metro is nice looking but seemed incomplete as it was devoid of many ppl!
@harsh:
ur backkk!!
oh well nice to know i made u nostalgic! ;-)
but u seem to hav seen a lot more things in delhi and around it...the way u mentioned abt corbett...i didnt hav the time to look arnd leisurely! but i hav made a mental note that i am going back to nainital and corbett, coz those places were simply amazing! and then i will make sure not to miss out on anything, especially the lil things u mentioned here!
@wheatie:
thank u maam! glad u liked it. and here i was expecting u to be the first person to argue to this piece here, since u live in the city i so enjoy bashing!
:P
@aditi:
yeah new name...
the old one didnt make any sense to me!
:)
how do u like the new one?
Nice blog. I totally agree with you when it comes to delhi. I cant wait to leave that place every time i land there and go to sweet chandigarh. The airport is another disaster. 2 terminals on an international airport?? I am sure it would land right on top if someone made a list of "seven disasters of the world.."..
all said and done.. i still miss it, maybe because its the first place i hit when i head home.
I dont like the new one.. i liked the old one better... the quest for depth was nice.. nothingness is berating
hrmph
